26th July, 2010
David Elsy and Joanna Westwood, two members of the W&R Life Science and Chemistry group based in the Midlands office, are to facilitate a seminar on "How to make money out of Intellectual Property (IP)" through Medlinik.
This talk will offer an in-depth look at the steps taken by successful organisations in order to maximise the value of their IP.
• How is money being made?
• What IP has been put in place to make this possible?
• How has the IP actually been used?
• What have been the key IP considerations for the business along the way?
• What steps has the organisation taken so as to be in a position to exploit the IP?
• How has success manifested itself as a result?
Among the business models explored will be the classical fortress and licensing models, franchising, the garage sale, the monopoly-in-a-box and a number of hybrid solutions borne out of the others. We will also consider when the maintenance of trade secrets is best and examine the implications of adopting an "open source" approach.
MedilinkWM are hosting the event through their MyM-link facility. MedilinkWM offer their members a competitive edge through networking, market intelligence and commercial opportunities.
The organisation is based in Birmingham as the country's foremost intelligence organisation for this sector, Medilink provides a service to members across the whole of the UK to help them drive their businesses forward.
