4th June, 2006
We are delighted to report that not only has a proposal for an IP Forum been accepted by Advantage West Midlands (AWM) but the contract is now in place for delivery of the initiative to increase awareness of the benefits of IP for West Midlands' businesses.
Karl Barnfather has for some time chaired a steering committee which has now successfully secured the significant six figure funding for the two-fold initiative of creating an effective forum for the discussion of IP issues in the innovation process with West Midlands businesses, and assisting a limited number of companies in commercialisation projects through funded professional advice.
The IP Forum is to be launched to IP and innovation professionals in the afternoon of Tuesday 4 July 2006 at the Technocentre at Coventry University Enterprises who have enthusiastically backed the project and are the delivery body for its success. A launch to all business sectors will then take place later in the year.
Anyone engaged in a professional advisory capacity in the innovation process is encouraged to attend the launch, so please come along to ensure we maximise the use of the investment in our sector. There will be an opportunity for you all to participate in the IP Forum, so please get involved. If you know someone else who would like to be involved please let Simon Tulitt know at CUE s.tulitt@cad.coventry.ac.uk See also the attached flyer and invitation below.
We would like publicly to thank everyone on the steering committee but especially Brian Williams of CUE Ltd and Claire Holden of AWM for their particular support and engagement with the project to date.

"Whilst W&R are instructed directly through our external Australian attorneys, we find W&R understand our patent portfolio and our cases are not treated as simply foreign referrals. It is invaluable having direct access to W&R if we have any queries on our EP/UK portfolio and related strategies."
