Withers & Rogers LLP has announced that in mid-2007 its two Midland offices, currently at 75 Colmore Row, Birmingham and 60 Holly Walk, Leamington Spa, will amalgamate in a purpose built Midlands office in Dormer Place, Leamington. The new office is a substantial new-build extension to an existing building in Leamington's conservation area.
Karl Barnfather, Managing Partner of the Birmingham Office said, "The opportunity to merge our closely linked Midlands offices is tremendous and one which we have grasped enthusiastically in order to provide even better service to our clients across the Midlands through the synergies we will achieve from stronger technical teams."
The office is just 5 minutes walk from the railway station, with good parking for clients and staff and will give the firm space for continued expansion for the future. Consolidation of these existing Midlands offices will make Withers & Rogers' Midlands office one of the largest Patent & Trade Mark Firm offices in the Midlands - with more than 20 fee earners and over 50 partners and staff in total.
The combined office will be better able to serve clients in all four of the Firm's practice groups: Advanced Engineering; Electronics, Computing and Physics; Life Sciences and Chemistry; and Trade Marks. Indeed, the Advanced Engineering group will be the largest and ideally placed to serve clients in the UK's industrial heartland. Clients include companies in the automotive and aerospace sectors, life sciences as well as Warwick, Aston and other universities.
Adrian Chettle, the Group Finance Partner based in Leamington also commented, "I am delighted by this significant step forward for the business as the new office will provide an excellent working environment for us all. It will genuinely be a pleasure and a benefit for the larger teams of patent and trade mark specialists to work more closely together from next year."
Attorneys from the Midlands office will continue to be active in Birmingham as they are in Coventry and throughout the Midlands while also serving clients from overseas, especially USA, Japan and Malaysia.

"Whilst W&R are instructed directly through our external Australian attorneys, we find W&R understand our patent portfolio and our cases are not treated as simply foreign referrals. It is invaluable having direct access to W&R if we have any queries on our EP/UK portfolio and related strategies."
