Funding available through the Coventry & Warwickshire Innovation Programme

27 March 2017

Small and medium sized companies in Coventry & Warwickshire have the opportunity to obtain grants of typically between £25-50,000 to assist with costs relating to intangible assets (such as patents, trade marks and copyright), relating to seconded personnel and relating to support services. This is aimed at advancing the development of innovative products and services involving emerging technologies such as:

– data capture
– energy usage (such as batteries and energy conservation)
– IT connectivity
– smart systems
– digital technology
– assisted technologies
– advanced materials
– electronics
– intelligent mobility
– medical technologies

Withers & Rogers is pleased to support torc2 Ltd, a company based in Coventry who have made use of this funding. The company is run by a small group of passionate individuals supported by a wider team of professionals in the field of orthopaedics, medical device manufacturing and motion capture software development. They have developed an innovative thermoplastics compound that has the property to be thermally moulded at a temperature comfortable for skin contact, but which is a semi-rigid rubber like solid at body temperatures. This property when applied to splint and cast production provides real and significant patient benefits compared to, for example, conventional plaster casts.
