Adrian Tombling BSc, CPA, EPA

Adrian has a degree in Genetics (First Class Honours) from Aberdeen University.

Career to date

Adrian joined Withers & Rogers in 2000 having spent seven years in private practice with another firm of patent attorneys. He is based in our London office. He serves on the Intellectual Property Committee of the UK Bioindustry Association, and is also on the Professional Qualifications Committee of the European Patent Institute.

Personal Skills

Adrian takes a dynamic and pro-active approach. He is commercially minded and has a depth of experience with respect to relevant life science technologies.

Sector Experience

Adrian has diverse experience and works for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, as well as medical device companies. He has specific expertise in patent work relating to recombinant DNA technology, recombinant antibodies, gene therapy, diagnostic tests, screening methods and vaccines. Adrian also has experience of working with a major sporting goods company.  He has extensive experience of opposition and appeal procedures before the European Patent Office. Adrian also takes a particular interest in Chinese patent law and is a regular visitor to China.

Client Experience

Adrian works with a number of universities as well as small and large biotechnology companies, including Hologic Inc., Takeda Cambridge Limited, King's College London and University College London.

On a personal note...

Adrian continues to risk life and limb by cycling to work.  In his spare time, he endeavours to find less congested roads along which to cycle. 

He is also learning to play the trumpet with very limited success.
