John handles patent prosecution and opposition work for industrial and academic biotechnology clients based in the United Kingdom, Scandinavia, United States, Netherlands and Germany. In a 24 year career he has gained wide experience and often advises on IP strategy. He specialises in work relating to recombinant DNA technology, nuclear receptors, vaccines, antibodies and derivatives, crystals, drug discovery methods, microbiology and biomedical products as well as medical devices. He particularly enjoys EPO Opposition and Appeal work and takes on cases from other technical fields. He has significant IP due diligence experience and prepares reports for investors, and for Stock Market listing.
As a regular visitor to Japan since 1990 he is still making attempts to improve his knowledge of the Japanese language.
John works for a variety of clients including Vitrolife AB, Cardiff University, Meda AB, the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England.
Apart from having a good record in EPO opposition and appeal work, John helped found the Firm's Bristol Office, which opened in 1989.
John is very proud of his two daughters. Sometimes, John would rather be indulging his love of country sports, or riding a bike.
