Andrew Thompson BEng, CPA, EPA

Higher education

Andrew studied at the University of Birmingham gaining a first degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Andrew’s degree course covered several key fields including, analogue circuit design and digital systems, power electronics, control systems and computer communications networks.

Career to date

Andrew began his training with another central London firm of Patent Attorneys where he qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2005. He joined Withers & Rogers LLP in February 2006 and qualified as a Chartered Patent Attorney in 2007. Andrew has also spent some time working in-house at the patent department of one the UK’s largest software companies.

Sector Experience

In his previous job, Andrew worked on a wide range of electronics technologies from television systems to production line techniques. He has also worked extensively on a portfolio of patent applications relating to 3G telecommunications technology. More recently Andrew has gained experience in the fields of GPS and mobile phone antenna design and of mobile phone operating systems.

On a personal note...

A rekindled fondness for adventure sports finds Andrew throwing himself up walls, and down mountains, whenever possible.
