Ella Blanquet

Ella Blanquet is a European and UK patent attorney in our Advanced Engineering group. Ella has experience working on all aspects of the patent process. This includes working with clients to identify inventive concepts, drafting patent applications and prosecuting to grant, as well as EPO opposition proceedings. Ella specialises in engineering and chemistry related inventions, in particular in the fields of chemical engineering, oil and gas, materials and various aspects of inorganic chemistry (such as compounds for battery and ink compositions).

Education & background

Ella holds a diplôme d’ingénieur (equivalent B.Sc and M.Sc.) in Chemical engineering from École Nationale Supérieure des Industries Chimiques (ENSIC), through which she had the opportunity to attend the University of Manchester and the Kyushu Institute of Technology. While in Japan, she worked as a research engineer, focusing on plasma chemistry for producing gas for the Semiconductor Industry. Ella also holds an integrated M.Sc. and PhD in Bioenergy from the University of Leeds, where her research focused on low-temperature plasma catalysis for the conversion of organic waste into syngas.

Ella joined the patent profession in 2019, training at another private practice firm, where she qualified as a European and UK patent attorney, prior to joining Withers & Rogers.

On a personal note…

Outside of work, Ella enjoys learning languages, in particular Japanese. She also enjoys travel, reading, walking and visiting art galleries.
