Ciara Felix

Ciara Felix is currently gaining experience in patent law and works with a number of clients and technologies mainly relating to mechanical inventions. Her work involves drafting and prosecuting patent applications mainly before the UK IPO and EPO. She is an active member of the Med-Tech sector group.

Education & background

Ciara studied an MEng in Mechanical and Medical Engineering at the University of Hull, graduating in 2017. Following this, she studied a DPhil in Engineering Science at the University of Oxford, graduating in 2022. In the course of her DPhil research, she developed a computational model for studying the effects of low-intensity focused ultrasound on the brain for treatment of neurological diseases.

Ciara entered the patent profession in September 2021 working at another firm where she interacted with a variety of clients from sole inventors or start-ups to large companies. This has given her broad exposure to patent and registered design cases in the UK, Europe, US and other jurisdictions.

Ciara joined W&R in June 2025, and has since focused on patent drafting, prosecution and freedom to operate work relating to construction machinery, as well as building components and outdoor equipment.

On a personal note…

Outside of work, Ciara enjoys being active through aerial arts, swimming, paddleboarding and skiing. She also enjoys travelling frequently.
