Ute Pfaller

With more than 25 years of experience as an attorney specialising in intellectual property at various international IP law firms, Ute has supported clients in numerous infringement cases before courts in Germany and the Unified Patent Court (UPC). Her expertise spans all stages of litigation – from the first warning letter to settlement agreements or court judgments – dealing with national and international IP portfolios, such as patents, utility models, trade marks, and designs.

Ute is highly experienced in drafting IP-related contracts, including licensing agreements, transfers of IP rights, employee inventions, and research and development collaborations. She also assists clients in enforcing their rights through customs seizure proceedings.

She is member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and the Licensing Executives Society International (LESI). Ute has been regularly lecturing in “Patent Law / Protection of Intellectual Property” on the master’s course in paper technology at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich. Her most recent publication was about “Compulsory Patent Licensing in the Time of COVID-19″.

Education & background

Ute studied Law at Ludwig-Maximilian University of Munich, specialising in Intellectual Property. She worked as a student research assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property and Competition Law and trained at several Munich law firms as well as the US law firm Pearne & Gordon.
