Withers & Rogers is pleased to announce our involvement in the Life Sciences Hub Wales, launched today in Cardiff Bay.
The Life Sciences Hub is an initiative launched by the Welsh Government with £100 million support from the Wales Life Sciences Investment Fund. The Hub will be the base for public and private sector specialists and strategic partners, covering all elements from funding to business support to international development and promotion, stimulating interaction, innovation, networking and collaboration – facilitating jobs and investment. It is part of a wider strategy which aims to deliver at least £1 billion of extra value in the sector in Wales by 2022.
The Hub will be home to the Welsh Government Life Sciences sector team along with members of the Department for Health; clinicians and healthcare organisations; universities and academics and professional advisers. The Hub will also accommodate the team from Arthurian Life Sciences Ltd managing the £100 million wales Life Sciences Investment Fund.
Withers & Rogers take their place in the Hub as part of Scinapse, a collaboration with the law firm Geldards and accountants Broomfield & Alexander which aims to provide professional services support for early stage and growing businesses in the healthcare and life sciences sector in Wales.
A member of the Withers & Rogers team will be on site at the Hub on a regular basis to provide intellectual property advice clinics for businesses and healthcare organisations.
John Dean, partner and head of the firm’s Life Sciences & Chemistry group said:
“At Withers & Rogers we have a dedicated Life Sciences group with a long history of working closely with many clients in Wales. We are excited to have this opportunity to play a significant role in the future development of the Welsh Life Sciences sector and we’re looking forward to taking up our place in the Hub.”
