Adrian Chettle BSc, CEng, FIMechE, CPA, EPA, RTMA

Higher education

Adrian is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers; he achieved a first class honours degree from Aston University.

Career to date

Adrian worked in the automotive industry for ten years and the pharmaceutical industry for six years. Adrian qualified as a Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney in 1981 and is based in our Midlands office. He has been our Finance Partner since 1998 and became the Firm's Chairman in April 2009.

Personal skills

With 30 years' experience within the patent sector Adrian brings a wealth of knowledge to the firm. His extensive practice within the field of automotive technology enables him to bring a valuable technical insight into his patent work.

Sector experience

Adrian specialises in the automotive and mechanical field and has extensive experience within the pharmaceutical process sector and in medical equipment.

Client experience

Adrian works on a wide range of clients including United Parcel Service, Ricardo, Wabco Automotive, Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Jacobs Chuck and Dragon Plastics, covering all design, trade mark and patent work.

Notable successes

Adrian has successfully represented numerous clients before the Opposition and Appeal Boards of the European Patent Office and in the Sabatier trade mark case before the UK Trade Mark Registry. He has appeared as Court expert witness in his capacity as Chartered Mechanical Engineer in relation to knitting machines.  

On a personal note... 

Adrian has several vintage cars which are regularly used at home and abroad, is a keen cross-country runner, and a supporter of Aston Villa football club.
